Born officially in 2010, Petits Músics del Món is a Catalan NGO that performs projects of international cooperation and awareness through initiatives in which music and dance are a fundamental part. The aim is to improve the conditions and quality of life of Malawi’s children — and in the future of other South countries — supporting the education of children and young people.
In the field of cooperation we work in Malawi, one of the most disadvantaged countries in Africa, in which the majority of the population lives below the poverty line.
We know that for changes there is a need to change attitudes in our home, in rich countries. So we work promoting awareness-raising activities, mainly aimed at primary and secondary schools in Catalonia, in order to achieve a society that is more aware of reality, more responsible and more supportive.
And every year through the project we learn to cooperate, we organise cultural exchange sessions with young people from Malawi and Catalonia contacting both.
We believe in shared work
We have witnessed the potentiality and proactivity of African communities, and this has encouraged us to commit ourselves by supporting projects that promote self-development that helps, among other things, to generate jobs that are adjusted to their reality. And we do this by placing emphasis on the world we know best: music, dance and other artistic forms in general.
Musical shows, exchanges, coexistence, workshops, education, teacher training... Are the tools that allow us to create a framework of peer learning with music as an argument.
In fact, we want to emphasize the value of music and dance as universal languages, bringing cultures together and helping us grow as people in a single world.
